| So much for the flocking instinct. I like the B&W on this- the subjects are well suited for it with their strongly contrasting colors, and it (IMO) adds to the surface of the water by adding definition to the ripples. |

Anyone that can work the phrase 'cognitive dissonance ' into a photo gets a comment from me :- )
I do have to agree with you though - for a species that regularly travels thousands of miles, they do look wonderfully lost . . |

| lol two pictures and none of the birds are facing you! They must all be camera shy ;) I love how the dark heads really pop out from the background. The ripples in the water look so sleek too. |
