This reminds me of something... can't quite figure out what... hmmm.... let me think... oh yeah! An EGA on a sheet! How about digging down into that "fancy" mind of yours and do something creative. For example, on your next entry why don't you dress up like an officer and put on some jump wings, a scuba bubble, and some other cool Marine stuff and take a nice self portrait. I promise I won't show it to anyone.

I do like the shadow on the backdrop to give it dimension. You mention in your comment below that it's yellow because you used an indoor bulb - did you shoot in RAW? If so, open the RAW file in CS3 bridge (if you use CS3, that is) and pull the temperature slider to the left. It will pull out a lot of the yellow and brighten your background a bit. When you open the file in PhotoShop, you can also do a bit of a selective color layer, pulling yellow from yellow, and yellow from white. It also helps to add a bit of cyan back in. Hopefully at least some of this makes sense! If not, post your shot and this comment in the forums and see if someone else can provide clearer details.

Neat... at first glance I thought the background was sand! Is the symbol made of metal? It's hard to tell -- maybe a bit more light would help show the texture. However, I like that you got this without glare or reflections.

I have my grandmother's Mother Pin which my dad gave her when he enlisted in the 50s. I grew up with the globe and anchor
he is so proud of the USMC

thank you

The Eagle Globe and Anchor that I used is about 1 inch by 1 inch. It is on a white background. I think it is a yellow tint because of the household light bulb I was using. (I am saving up for some Alien Bees) Thanks for all the comments.

Simple and well done. My only suggestion would be to get a bit more light on the right side, unless of course you wanted it darker and in that case ignore my suggestion!

Excellent detail. This looks tiny...Not sure I'm a big fan of the centered composition. Might be able to crop a bit and then the background movement will add even more interest. Still, it's a neat shot!

Hard to the scale from the photo...but it looks like you got some good detail for how small it seems.

A little soft and looks a little yellowish. I get what you are saying though. I dreamed of a military career (marines, of course) but took a career of MOM instead :)
