 This is not a set up shot! These two cuties just stood there by the road as we were cycling by on our Sunday tour, begging to be captured. The title was there before the shot.
After I decided to go for it, I read the challenge details, and realized I'd be stretching the task quite a bit (what with the "mutually beneficial relationship"), but I'm gambling on not all the voters having read them...

Tweaked the settings and cropped in RAW,
New layer to blur the registration plates.
Adjustment layer for curves, to add a little bit of contrast.
Adjustment layer/mask to darken the background.
Merging.
Adding frame.
USM.
Save for Web.

Very interesting idea. The title takes a second to think about, I would've named it somethign else. But overall, nice job.
