OK, so this is a wild thing that isn't quite wild anymore. I went to a "Birds of Prey" exhibit at a local Children's Festival. This little guy posed so nicely, that I couldn't resist him.

Post-processed with PSPXI: crop, levels, brightness/contrast, resize, usm, upload.

Edit to add:(for MM!) These little owls grow to be 9-11 inches(23-28 cm.) tall. This one was sitting on a young woman's fist and barely came up to her shoulder.

He's cute up close. We have those in this area of Florida, but they are not common nearby. You forgot to mention that it is about life size when you open the thumb.
You did a good job of getting the piercing stare captured, and at such a slow shutter speed too.

Gorgeous eyes - I like the crop - probably would have cropped even closer to cut out all the background - with a gaze like that you don't need a background!

Beautiful detail and mesmerizing eyes. I think I would like it better if it was cropped so the bird filled the frame. I find the stark white background distracting.

Cool pick of a great bird, love the big eyes! He did pose nice for you, I might crop a bit off the left side to center him a bit more but still nice pic.

What's not to like? He engages immediately.

". . . this is a wild thing that isn't quite wild anymore . ." Try offering him your finger then :- )

Lovely eyes, and nice colour in his feathers. I think the close crop actually works well to make his stare even more intense.

Awesome shot! Seems like he knows something that we don't... or he thinks he's better than us!

Nice job giving into his pose. I really like the reflection in his eye. So soft ... and yes it is an awesome pose. He must have known you were from DPC!!
