Day 1

Not an exciting wild thing, but after the little thief stole yet more bird food from my feeders he paused on a nearby fence post to savor his ill-gotten gains. Rather a nice pose so I shot him ;-)

The sun was out after our day of rain so the light wasn't too bad.

Still not sure about the crop but it's not awful.

PP - converted from RAW, cropped, levels, dodged eye, reduced noise, resized, sharpened with noise reduction.

These little guys can give you tremendous shots if 'we' pay attention. Good capture, I like the lighting with the dark background and the texture of the post.

Great way to make a very ordinary subject more interesting- the "posing" of the subject is great.

Adorable - I love squirrels, even when they're being thieves! For what it's worth, I like the crop too!

This is a a really good shot. I love squirrel pictures and take them often. I would be very proud to have this in my portfolio. I love the composition of the whole shot. The sturdy fence post offset by the whimsy of a tail - great job. Background/bokeh is perfect.

They are quite the bandits aren't they! They can be frustrating when stealing birdseed but they can be a blast to watch as well, they are quite the clowns. Good shot of him savoring his stolen goods and I like the crop, works well!

Great light and DOF. The balancing is sweet, and how lucky can you get - the texture and tones in the finial are a perfect complement to the squirrel's.

Cute squirrel in a nice squirrelly pose.

Lovely catchlight in his eye and Dof.

with the crop I think I would be tempted to keep it as a square crop - but make it smaller and move it up the post so you just get the shape at the top ?

This is really nice, Mary. It looks like it was placed on the post by a sculptor. Wonderful color, DOF, and focus.

I like the crop. I feel that with the darker empty background on the right and the lighter background behind the squirrel, it draws your eye over to the subject and provides an over all balance to the picture. Nicely done!

Oh, I'm glad I'm not the only one who has problems with these guys. They keep digging up my flowers! You got this one in a great pose!

Great capture, Mary.
As my luck continues ... today I walked into our bathroom, looked out the window, and there sat a little squirrel on our roof, chowing down and looking straight at me. I slowly walked away in search of my camera ... it's in the car, of course!
I love how we can see the texture of his fur so beautifully highlighted in your shot. And the balancing act he's performing for you just brings this to a whole new level.

Love all the designs and textures. The grain in the post is pretty. Beautiful capture of all the colors in the fur. Love the soft green background as well.

Cool shot. These things find the most awkward places to sit and make it look comfortable too. Great focus and I like the crop.

That's not just a squirrel - that's Kinky, so named for the little kink in his tail. ;-Þ
