The bokeh adds just enough texture to the background to enhance the flower.

Cool shot, I really like how the flower smoothly blends into the background with your use of dof.

You have a marvelous mastery over light and tone, which you combine so well with texture and shape. This would be dull against a black background - the texture behind, lit every so gently - adds a distinct richness to the feel of this.
