"The Hitchhikers's Guide describes the appearance of the Aves Nebula in the LG113 Galaxy when viewed from the Plural Zone as '... not entirely unlike the result of a pigeon trying to fly through a closed and very dirty window ...' "

Played around with the settings in RAW, cropped a little bit, resized and saved for web.

This is my very first time, so please be gentle ...;)

You received high marks from me as well. Some of us have very eclectic tastes and really do appreciate the shots that are just a bit beyond the norm. Well done. I had no idea what it was, but what it was was perfect as presented so I had no need to know what it was. Hopefully that makes sense!

not only is it a book i love (and movie i liked) but the image is wonderful. the colours, those golds and blues, the flecks of pigeon dust, are, well, lovely. the implied motion in the impact trace remind me greatly of Giacomo Balla's Dynamism of a Dog on a Leash. nicely done indeed.

hehehe hit the edit the details button, on the left, under the challenge info

nicely done
I was one of your 9s; loved the very abstract feel of this combined with a lot of soft motion and almost glittery details, it seemed to fit the title so very well!! Welcome to DPC and remember this: virtual scores, REAL comments, you can NEVER please everyone, so in the end DO YOU LIKE IT???

tom, a great image. you were one of my top scores - beautiful, creative and original. you'll find that dpc as a whole can be rather conservative in interpretation. but, not all of us. the posthumous ribbons thread goes a long way to redressing the egregiously misunderstood, and team suck is a great gathering place for the tangential.

(ps, you'll be in the posthumous ribbon thread in a bit, as you're getting on of mine today (after the whole ironing, lunch making, getting them off to school thing).... shhhhhh)

o, yes, cick on the 'edit details of the image' link in the...image details section. then you can edit your comments.

Obviously a polarizing picture...

I am thrilled and grateful for the nines and tens, hadn't expected those, but frankly a bit disappointed at the large number of ones and twos. Surely as a picture it wasn't that bad...? So what, if you don't know what you are looking at? In my book the important thing is: do I like what I see, never mind what it is or how it got there.

Thank you all for taking the time to comment on it (particularly those going beyond an expression of mere puzzlement), I really appreciate it! The DNMC in a "use your fantasy" challenge I found somewhat uncalled for, though. That criterion should apply to viewers as well ;)

(now how do I get this text up there in the "photographer's comments" where it belongs...?)

I have a feeling not many people will get this, but I see it as a sort of map of the galaxy. I don't know what it really is, some eagle shaped markings on dirty glass with a tree behind? Anyway, I like it and I'll give it a 7 to boost it a bit from the misunderstandings.

Simply stunning. I don't care wheather it is a real galaxy, but it looks like the one. It even recalls map, although an alien map I guess :) Great colours. I like the abstract feel of it. 9.

Your title made me smile. Photo is...different. I don't dislike it, yet for me, I wish there was some other element to add a bit more interest visually.

I hate to do this but I do it only after much deliberation, I looked on 2 monitors, and at all angles, I cannot figure out what I am looking at. DNMC
