I like the simplicity of it. The silhouettes turn this from a specific family to a universal one. However, the main thing that holds this back for me is the lack of emotion. I don't see enough happiness in this photo. That's not easy to convey photographing silhouettes so there needs to be more emphasis paid on the composition to convey it. For example, if the child was being held up higher and a burst of light or sun rays was hitting the child it would begin to show emotion, that of pride and of happiness. Perhaps that's a little over dramatic or would make it too staged look but I just use that example to illustrate a basic point. Good luck. |
