Sidewalks of New York is a 2001 Paramount Pictures film

I had been in New York for 3 days on business. I had to leave for the airport at 9 AM on Wednesday. I got up early to see what the challenges were for the week and had about an hour to find something that was right for the challenge, while still saving time to finish packing and get myself to the airport. I was pleased that I came upon this and had a good movie title to go with it.

The shot was taken on the sidewalk at Bryant Park, on W. 42nd St. near 6th Ave. in New York at about 7:30 AM. His sign reads, "Tell Me Off for $1". I asked if I could take his picture instead of telling him off and he happily obliged and posed for multiple shots.

I had another shot that was closer in and had showed more expression on his face. I decided the environment was key to the shot so I opted for this one. While the yellow glasses show personality, I would have loved to see his eyes. That would have strengthened the human connection.

Chris, you have the gift of the gab or charm, if you like. That's at least as important as knowing how to use the camera in this hobby. You came from out of town and did NYC justice with that lens of yours. I'm enjoying your portfolio, by the way. Just found it.

Very nice capture. Like the reflection in the glasses. Did I see this photo on JPG also?

Wooow... Homeless and beggars always are an interesting story. You are brave, I'm afraid to shoot them. Great composition, nice colour scheme, excellent detail, good match on the movie title.
