My grandfather recently gave me his camera... a Japanese manufactured 4X5 view camera. Even though it had not been used in over thirty years, when I loaded it with film I found it to be completely functional.

A beautiful example of a camera more than 60 years old.

I shot this using three strobes in a darkened room. The exposure time was 20 seconds, but it was so allowing for targeted flash points to decrease shadows.

Original photo shot as an Olympus Raw file. Developed in Lightroom for this antiqued, old photo look.

Exported to Photoshop for some targeted burning in to minimize the appearance of wrinkles in the fabric backdrop.

Compositionally, I think this is a well done shot. The different elements, in addition to the camera, helps to add balance and interest. I think a lower perspective may have been a bit more dramatic, but it is still well done. Also, a tighter crop may have made it feel a bit less "standard" or less like a camera ad and more like "art." (If that does not make sense, let me know and I will try to articulate it better).

Technically, I like how you made it look and feel old. The processing of the picture really compliments the subject nicely.

Overall, an interesting shot, and it does obviously meet the challenge.

Best to you in future challenges.

Nice vintage look to match the vintage camera.
