In my yard (garten) here there are tulips that grow in the lawn in the spring. By the time I start mowing, most have grown and bloomed, but these two were late bloomers (heh). So I mowed around them for a time. I took this shot, then cut them and brought them inside for a day, and mowed over the remains.
Let me know if this is too light. The monitor I work on is very rich in darks but I suspect based on how I see things on my laptop that stuff I work on on this monitor is too light elsewhere.

I can't believe I'm still commenting on spring pictures! I think it has some good dark tones but I think the grass is what is making it appear lighter.

Lovely bokeh. Works really well in B&W. I actually prefer the B&W over the colour.

I like the symmetry and the strong light on the petals... the flower on the left is seems slightly oof, maybe because of the shallow dof used with the macro lens.

Wow this has so much drama as a black and white.....

The lighitng looks fine on my monitor. A nice capture that is really made with the bokeh!

The bokeh in the BW is so much more powerful. Lovely photo. The light is strong, but I feel it adds to this particular image.

I see a good strong distribution of blacks to whites here. Nicely chosen depth of field.

the placement of the dark background to emphasize the tulip flowers is very well done - i love how the b/w conversion creates more glow and interest in the background

YAY - love the duplicity. Mine didn't do well. So much for planting bulbs. LOL

Fading tulips, a sign spring wildflowers are actually at peak. The last two tulips - last in the yard, last photographed, I should check your portfolio to see if you made any more.
Am seeing this for the first time on my less than optimum, fairly dark laptop monitor, but the tones look quite good to me, & more interesting than the colour original.
Bit of a mini series of spring tulips has developed, I greatly enjoy your "last two" as well as mad_brewer's solitary beauty.
