I did this panning from a moving car. What I like about it is the impressionist effect of the water being seen through the vegetation. I also like the contrast with the biker whom has nothing in common with impressionists' models.
In the original picture, the bike was going in the left direction. I swithed it and croped it close to the right side to give the feeling she is leaving from the scene, hence the title "enough with the impressionists" to which I could have added "I'm out of here". It is a bit of a statement about woman's liberation and a "clin d'oeil" to Marcel Duchamps' Nude Descending The Stairs.
For the overall composition, I chose a stripe (green, blue, green) leaving more green in the bottom, again to accentuate the leaving position of the biker (she is slighly moving up). But I realize now that the bottom green is not quite in the same impressionist style as the middle part, and takes to much space compare to it, as a frame that would be too heavy. If I could resubmit, I would cut the bottom green, leaving a third or even just a forth of it.
Thank you in advance for your comments. |

Like the title. Nice "lure of the road" scene. |

The bike is not the main focus in this picture. |

Really nice use of the frame! Putting the rider on the right (and, thereby, having a lot less space in front of her) really helps with the sense of speed. |

The use of panning in this photograph a s little ak, it would be better if there was less negative space. |

Nice colour and effect. I would have liked the subject entering the frame and not leaving it however. |
