This is my Skull Mug I use it for beer on occasion. I don't recall how or where I got it, but it has become a close friend - telling me who my enemies are and what I should do to them-- oops, I've probably said too much. He doesn't like it when I talk to others about him - he says they won't understand. He did sit quietly and happily for this photo shoot though.

I filled it with water, placed it in my home made light tent and dripped in two drops of red food coloring and shot about 6 shots as the red liquid descended down the mug.

Processing was not too much since the original shot came out ok. I used a diffuse glow filter, some dodging and burning, put an overlay on and erased the overlay from the mug, leaving it just on the background.

Here's a previous shot, posted awhile back of me and Skully and also the original (just cropped).

I'm gonna guess you got it at Treasure Island in Las Vegas. I'm pretty sure I have one just like it lying around somewhere.

Glad to see the blood washed out with the beer... It's amazing how you got the 'blood' to look so fluid in the final shot. Great job on the texturing, too.

What a great conversation piece at parties! Love the work on the overlay, looks like it could used as a label. Possibly a warning label :)

Red dye really makes the shot and processing definitely pulls the looks off. Very nice!

I love the processing! It almost looks like the skull is encased in ice. The food dye makes it though, it runs in perfect tears from the eyes!
