 She plucked at the strings her grandmother used to play, hoping to inspire from the audience of young children another to carry on this aspect of Korean culture.

Post Challenge: Woo, it's nice to be on the good side of 50%. This was taken at a Korean culture show at the Children's Museum in Chicago. I missed the name of the instrument, but it's about 5' long and has 12 strings.

Fantastic shot. Perfect DOF, great composition, very dynamic, and definitely tells a story. As Don already remarked, this wouldn't look out of place on a magazine page. 5.6? Shocking.

This is an excellent photo. The DOF and crop are perfect. One of these days I am going to start a thread for magazine-quality photos that score under 6.

p.s. I only scored it a 6 because it didn't seem very storyey to me.

Does a very good job of conveying culture and a traditional story that goes with it. I love the color and the partial focus on the instrument. The closeup makes me feel like I am right there watching this.

Very interesting instrument. I've never seen anything like it. You got just enough of the costume into the shot to convey an Asian feel. I like the diagonal composition.

Very nice capture suitable for a report on the country its from (im not sure where it is though SE asia? Korea?).

The dof calls our attention to the most interesting part of the photo.

Did you try a tighter crop? mainly on the right? not sure if it would make it better, just an idea
