Hello there. I ran across this because I was wondering if anyone else owned this camera. It's a fantastic photo. The ice and the seagull really are the best parts. If only the water had picked up a little blue from the sky. But really it's great. Better than anything I could've done.

Thanks to all of you. I am very happy. This is the first picture that I have submitted and I wasn't sure how I would do. The first photo challenge I have entered anywhere. Feels good. Your comments were truly appreciated.

with the free editing in this challenge it might have been effective to have increased the saturation and contrast in the sky..... otherwise I really like the shot.... good luck, Todd. 7.

If the horizon was 'horizontal' and a little less sky this would improve the image for me

Nice composition and white balance. The ice makes some beautiful forms.

Interesting scenery. However, a suggestion would be that since everything is either white or light blue, it might be better to take the picture at early dawn or at sun set so there will be more color in the scene.

I don't think I have ever seen anything as cold looking as this. If this is life at sea, I am staying on terra firma. Very well taken, (amazing your hand didn't shake)

The drama of this scene would be captured better with a lower point of view and a lower exposure to make it a bit darker and get some texture in the pile of snow. The seagull is a nice touch.

Nice one. Maybe even more interesting composition if you'd rethink the shot and place the bird in the right upper corner quadrant - thus eliminating the snow mound, which is the least interesting in the photo... There is clearly enough clouds to make it an interesting picture. But then again -it's also about taking the shot. The bird is not a stationary object.

My goodness. This look unendurably cold. Excellent subject which you have executed well. The gull really helps the composition.

Sometimes the worst weather situations make for the most memorable photographs. Very well done.

the horizon line is not straight, and is not far enough off center to make a difference. The composition on the bottom 2/3 of the photo is very nice, and I really like the cold feeling and detail. good that you didn't slice the bird's head with the ocean/horizon line.
