Vertical flip (taken bent over between legs because they were low growing against concrete wall); taken with sepia setting as possible sepia entry; no crop; negative; desat; play with contrast etc, USM. I can't remember accurately because I had computer problems and was switching back and forth between Irfanview and the Gimp.

The ancient plant form. These are the spore bearing precursors to the beautiful luxuriant almost evergreen treelike later form. They thrive hereabouts and compete with the deer for the discouragement of our garden.

I like this, looks really cool. I actually prefer this version to the sepia one

Note: just one of many types of Equisetum at least two of which grow hereabouts. (Never encountered them in the East). Will try to post the non spore bugger, in colour.

what an unusual and interesting plant - i don't recall ever seeing these before

the b/w really works here - with the background contrasting nicely against the vertical plants

I think I like the sepia better, but the rest of the processing is nice. I have never seen or heard of these things, and found your comments quite interesting.
P.S. I also made note of your style of shooting a low subject without lying on the ground. Good trick to remember.
