Went back and forth between this shot and a closeup of a Rufous Hummingbird who was sitting on the perch. This is shot with my 300mm f/4L. This year's crop of hummingbirds are much braver than last year.

The title is meant to be a play on two things. 1) The idea that birds are descended from dinosaurs (so this little guy is a long lost relative of T. Rex, the Tyrant King) and 2) Hummingbirds hate each other. National Geographic said it best when they noted that 90% of the Hummingbird language is curse words.

Processing is pretty typical with me going pretty crazy with the saturation cheese whiz (as usual).

Excellent! You've captured him perfectly. I like how his feet are opening up to grab the perch.

What a great capture and a hard shot to get especially nas well as you did. Hummingbirds are also my favorite. Fabulous job. Great colors and clarity.

And he's looking at you! I never cease to be amazed by Hummingbird shots, and this is a particularly good one in color and composition. I suspect I would have played with toning down the red in the feeder to better match the bird's head, but then I don't always know when to leave well enough alone ;-)

Great "action" shot. I do like being able to see just a touch of motion in the wings. The green, yellow, orange colors in the background really compliment well too. 10 pts here. -BB

Beautiful colours both in the bird and the background. Would prefer a real flower, but I'm assuming this was taken where the only thing attracting the birds was the artificial flower and nectar?
