This was lit by holding a table lamp over the top of the cards! Shot in RAW (my first time shooting in RAW) so I could sort the white balance out after.

Set white balance and converted from RAW using DPP. CS2: increased saturation for greens to make the table look less pale. Contrast, burn a couple of bright spots, clone a few tiny bits of dirt off the cloth, usm, sfw

Technically, I think this is good, although for most, I think it lacks the "wow" factor. The interest is more subtle, and has to do with what's actually going on in the game. I suspect most voters looked at it, said, "Oh, how interesting, a poker game," voted, and moved on. Maybe a hand holding some of the cards or something even more dramatic (an ashtray?, a spilled drink?) would have held voters for a longer visit. I gave this a five.

I do like the lighting. Taken out of context, it might be considered harsh, but here it gives it the feel of a card game in a dark room or someone's basement with a single overhead light.

I gave this a 7, so I might not be the best one to critique it. It is very clear and fit the challenge well, the lighting is dramatic. It does seem to have a bit of a tilt to it, I realize that's the angle you shot it from but it looks like the chips will go falling to the left any minute.

I gave this a 10 in voting. Love the lighting and everything fits together perfectly. I'm sure it's the lighting that put off a lot of folks. Maybe a small fill light from the left could have helped in the voting.
