I'm still learning about lighting and ended up taking over 100 photos before I decided to switch from a black background to a white background. I then took another 40 shots before getting just the right amount of liquid coming through the tap and the glass mostly level.

This is amazing, great for orginality and execution, i don't know how some people can give it a low score. Bravo.

There's just the slightest hint of a shadow on either side of the apple, cast, I'm guessing, by the spigot handle? I'd like to see just a bit more of the fingernail on the bottom finger. Good shot.

Really well done.
Creative and very well executed.

Having had the tutorial on how to do this shot, I still find this rendition a bit compositionally challenged.

more framing of the glass and hand to give me more impact as a viewer. good imagination anyway.

Nice job without using Photoshop to make it happen. Great concept.

The light, contrast and color here are really nice, clever setup also

Very creative and well done! I'd like it slightly better if the rim of the glass was horizontal in the photo.

I think if this was the first time I was seeing this image it would have had a more powerful impact on me. However, because a similar image can be seen here , and I actually find the original a much better photo, this is kind of a turn off. I'm all for copying an idea and putting your own spin on it, but if you do that then you have to make it better IMO. I liked the leaf in the first one, I preferred that the image was centered, the colored background gave it a more "outdoorsy" feel, and with this picture there is a small shadow to the left that I find distracting. I do think it's a good attempt and it's interesting to see an apple instead of an orange, and with a little more effort I think you would have pulled it off, but overall it looses some points for me because it didn't meet the expectations of the previous image.

Clever. Have seen some similar to this concept. You've done "ok" with this presentation. The lighting doesn't seem quite right. A little harsh. Did you try a polarizer to control the reflections some? Just a thought. All JMO of course. :-) Good luck in the challenge.

Very creative idea and nicely executed. The image seems maybe a bit too light, but again, a great photo. Should be in the top five.

Great!
Cool idea, good enough for an advertisement! Is that water that is pouring into the glass with apple juice?
04/30/2008 01:47:54 PM
A very well executed brilliant idea. even though i like this one a lot, it would have been very impressive, if you had shot this with a side view :) one of my favorites in the challenge nonetheless.

very neat shot. Is water coming out of the faucet or apple juice? Would love to see your setup for this one!

Cute! Reminds me of this image:

It might look better with a different colour background.
04/30/2008 09:14:41 AM
Great idea and well photographed. The only thing for me is the apple looks crooked and the glass too.
04/30/2008 08:44:01 AM
when you try to recreate a ribboning image at least you should try to make it better than the original
04/30/2008 01:58:58 AM
Clever --- and well done.
