The owl is actually sepia, the leaves are just desaturated. Not a great photo, but then owls tend to avoid good light. If you could only heat the noise they made, two of them, hooting like monkeys.

great to catch the owl -- just wish he were sharper

Your image is really pixelated. It feels like a severe crop of a larger photo. Your selective desat is interesting but I wish it was a bit more "tan/brown" colored.

wow thats a very odd effect with the red but the leaves in front of it are very blurry and distracting.

I like the color in the owl, but why did you put it, or leave it, on the tree itself? That distracts from the owl since the eye naturally sees the part of the tree with color as a second owl. Otherwise, good shot!

Sepia tone refers to the coloring of a black and white photographic print that has been toned with a sepia toner to simulate the faded brownish color of some early photographs. There are some strong reds and a lot of grays here. I find the gray blotches to be highly distracting. As well as the bright reds. This would have been correctly in pp. If you use PS, it is simple: just convert to grayscale, then convert to duotones. Choose two seperate shades of browns and then the image all comes together as a Sepia. I tried it myself on the image you have entered here, it is in my workshop folder so no one else can see. This is what I would have done - but just my humble opinion: [thumb]674623[/thumb]

I'm sure the original of this image is really nice, but your processing seems to be a little overdone.

This looks strange - over processed maybe?

Very cool picture. It challenges my assumptions of sepia though.

DNMC - this is more of a selective coloring than sepia (which means, very loosely speaking, the picture should be in tones of brown)

Other than that - it's a nice capture, especially the way the owl is looking down at the viewer.

Great capture of an owl. Pixelationa and red coloring on owl throw it off for me. Also, eyes and face are a bit too dark.
