Post:
Thanks everyone. Was a fun and simple shot to setup.
To the people who are bored of drop refraction shots. I'm learning and this is a technique I've been wanting to try. This is the first time I've tried this technique. I'm sorry that you have seen enough of these type of shots. I'd hoped to add something to make it a little different but maybe I failed.

Oh and a PB and first ribbon ;-)

For anyone who might be interested. Here is the pre PP of the same shot. Just cropped similarly, otherwise RAW.

The background was made in Visio. Here is a crop of it to show the lines. Don't know if it was the same part as in the final image.

This is freaking brilliant. I just had one of those "man I wish I'd thought of that" moments.

This is absolutely phenomenal, I was getting sick of this type of shot, as I have done it twice, and they were getting very repetitive, but this is just absolutely incredible, very nicely executed and a great unique spin on it. Nice work, added to faves.

This will resurface in my nightmares as Sudoku-from-hell. Beautiful picture though - I absolutely love the color and texture on the water droplets.

OMG Owain !!!!!!!!! I'm jumping up & down for you... YES, everyone, this is my DPL teammate & he's on FIRE right now.. You just can't take a bad photo.. Please, for me, ignore the boo hooer's who want to dismiss your image simply because the technique has ribboned in the past.. I've tried to do this, and it's flippin' hard, so you deserve all the congradulations in the world. You better keep this hot streak going through the next DPL whenever that is..

You should care what the minority think. Even though not everyone comments, the minority is a major chunk of them. Very few of the minority comment, and when they do, maybe we should take notice. They may be the ones to open up a lot of new styles of pics for the challenges, not to mention maybe some new challenges as well. I don't understand why you or anyone else would feel the need to defend other photographers pics. I'm sure they can and are capable to do it if they feel the need arises.

Oh no. . . these types of shots never ever cease to amaze me. And I can't believe they are simple to set up. This is flawless and FABULOUS. . .and I'm happy the voters in mass agree with me that shots like this still deserve top kudos!!! CONGRATULATIONS on everything: First ribbon -- a BLUE. Personal Best. And flawlessly executing this on your first try! BRAVO!

Congratulations on the ribbon and PB, and great job with your twist on this style. I think it's simple minded of people to dismiss a technique just because it has been done. Sunsets have been done too, but when a shot is well done it doesn't matter how many sunsets came before it. The voters seem to agree ;)

There always seems to be a picture like this in every challanged. It's barely interesting and very played out but the clarity and shadows are well done.

Cliche with a capital C. But I love it! Very mathematical and fun for the eyes.

A nice example of how a very uneven (unsymmetrical) composition can still clearly convey the concept of even.

Although this is a great image the concept is a little overdone, wasn't too long ago that this same set up was on the front page, for that reason alone I gave this a 5.
