Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: Water III (Advanced Editing VII)
Camera: Canon EOS-10D
Lens: Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM for Canon
Date: Apr 10, 2008
Date Uploaded: Apr 13, 2008

I was fast enough to click the shutter when I saw the duck fly into the frame, but not fast enough to change the shutter speed to present the duck as something recognizable. The blur, where the boat meets the water, is a duck.

This just has a frankness of presentation that is so very appealing. Also the submersion and shadow play makes this image a bit mysterious, something to be unpacked. How it can both frank and mysterious at the same time, I don't know. :)

Sorry for the .. comment, not really sure what happened there! I really like the composition in this, the fact that there is "no duck" actually makes this shot more interesting I think, I spent about 2 minutes looking for it (simple minds simple pleasures)!

Had the potential to be a good shot. But I don't understand all the sun flares in your picture. Did you have a UV filter on your camera? It don't look like your shooting directly into the sun. I find them very distracting and the shadow of the brush/grass on the top-left. I would of loved to see this image with smooth water allowing us to see the boat disappear under the water with contrast on the boat above the water.
Wish you well in the challenge. Nice B&W conversion.

I think the duck took a break.

The boat appears to have taken on a bit of water. I like the split aspect of the composition.
