 B&W and Landscape version of my recent ribbon winner. I was actually shooting this for the B&W challenge in mind. I just got lucky that the color version was a good shot for warm colors too.

It's been said: exceptional. In its way also minimal but full of interest, and allowing the light its full potential. (I do prefer it to your blue ribbon version, although it would be interesting to see that crop in black and white).

Fantastic job on using the high contrast and shadows to create a mood. This just feels like early morning or late evening.

This is beautiful - I love the light shining between the two trees in the front and the soft glow of the fog at the end of the road.

the b/w version really highlights nicely the textures of the road and actually helps lead my eye down the path - the color version makes me just stop and look at all the great oranges and warmth

And oh how the black and white version works equally as well, if not better, than the color version. And that's saying aLOT since the color version is a top award winner! This is stunning. The fog is just made for black and white in my opinion.

Your ribbon winner was perfect for that challenge (obviously!) but I really do like this one better. Here the warmth is implied more than direct - there's still snow, but there's a steam or mist rising and the warmth of the sun through the trees - excellent. Were I to choose one to print, no doubt this would be the one. I like the expanded view better as well.
