 This is a piece of art that was very controversial in Melbourne at the time it was created and placed in the city square. It's title is Vault, but it's commonly known as The Yellow Peril, and was the work of Ron Robertson-Swann. It disappeared from the city square after only 6 months in 1980, to a piece of dubious land between Flinders St and the River, before finally making its way to it's current location next to the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art in South Melbourne in 2002. 30 years after modern art was too difficult for the city, it is now a part of city life with numerous well loved pieces throughout the CBD and surrounds and the 'Yellow Peril' is still an interesting piece. Even if 95% of Melburnians wouldn't have a clue that it still existed.

Taken with the camera phone. So no settings of note.

Post processing:
sharpen
despeckle
slight crop to make sure it was suitably centred
resize.

Photo was taken late in the day in a westerly direction, with the sun heading for the horizon somewhere behind the sculpture.

It seems like the white balance is off on this.

Very dark overall. with the overcast, that yellow really should have popped. may want to chekc the post editing.

Not a bad photo... a little bit of noise, and the colours are tad flat.
