I've got mix feelings about how this is will do on DPC... my guess is in the mid fives... but hey I haven't gotten DPC voters yet so I'll likely be wrong.

I was trying to get the raw emotion of this mother and son, and I really think I got it.

It may be the close crop or the angle, but I can't get away from seeing this as two pictures photoshopped together. The mother and son don't appear to be together but the mother looks pasted onto a picture of the son. Dark shots are also risky since many people don't have calibrated monitors and may not be seeing the low levels.

strong emotions int he shot, but too underexposed.

I'm not keen on the black bands at the top on bottom of the frame. Removing them and having a wider aspect ratio would give it a more "wide screen cinema" feel which would suit the subject well.

It looks like a very emotional photograph but the lighting is actually hindering emotion for me. A well lighted scene would have really helped it alot. Very nice concept though.

The crop is a little awkward as it just clips his chin and his ear.
