A revised version of my Orange alternative. Cellphone stuck to LCD panel on which is drawn the radio rings, using CorelDraw 9. Lit on either side by two small halogens covered in tissue to keep the light low, so that internal lights and message screen can be seen. Sent message to cellphone and displayed it.
Use EF 50mm f/1.8 II this time.
Post processing crop, rotate, little black clip, little shadow lift, then did USM and resized in PS.
So far in accordance with basic rules but took advantage of the advanced rules to do a bit of selective cleaning on the phone display and a selectice blur on the background to reduce the LCD screen pixelation.
Exposure compensation -0.6
EF 50mm f/1.8 II lens

Very nicely done. Like the composition. I"m not an orange "fan," but this is a good picture!

Cool shot - I like it a lot - I'm SO glad you didn't center that phone in the frame. - 9

Composition here is excellent, and the idea in general very clever. Like it.

... NOT YOU! ;)

Of course I could be wrong, but I've got a feeling voters won't like being told which one deserves to win! The shot is well thought out but the composition is not great. By showing all of the phone it lacks a degree of dynamism and interest. The background pulses are crude ina appearance compared to the rest of the shot (a print-out perhaps?) and the phone looks like it has been spot-edited alien to the backdrop. Cropping the right side and bottom (more portrait in shape) would have improved the comp while still communicating your idea.

This is good enough to sell telephones, let alone win competitions.

I like your choice of subject and background, your composition and the bright, glowing colours of the phone. I find the background just a tiny bit muddy looking. I think I'd like it to seem a bit sharper. Still, this is a very effective image in my view!
