i just finished restoring this. not a great job but considering that it's a scan of an old tin type photo and most of the image was destroyed, i guess it's not too bad. my great-great grandfather was a photographer so this was one of his photos of himself and my great-great grandmother. i'm not sure when this photo was taken but it was before 1905 because that is the year that she died.
So stoic. Isn't it funny how now all photos are these cheesy smiles, yet in their day, they never did. I read that part of it is because they had to remain so still for a photo, that they encouraged them to just keep their mouths closed. What a trip back into yesteryear. Thanks for sharing.
