 My first submission with the Helios-40 85mm f/1.5, renouned for its ability to smoothly melt the subject into the background. The object in question is an AriaProII de-fretted bass, approximately as old as the lens (37 years or so). Lit with a single flash fired through an umbrella close to the guitar, flagged off with a card to prevent the Helios' famous lens flare, and the base of the guitar stand draped in black fabric. Camera handheld to permit precise positioning and focusing.

shows how much i know - i thought this was really dpc friendly. the buttery feel of the guitar is just scrummy. i love the soft, gentle curves; the colours and tones are just superb.

a little bit too shallow of a DOF for my taste. I like the composition though
