This is the same plant that I shot on day 1 for my baseline shot. As I went around the backside, looking closer now than I did on Day 1, and with the help of the March showers, I saw a bunch of tiny purple flowers facing the sun bursting from the stalks of this plant. Each of these is about the size of my pinky.

I snapped a couple of handhelds, but since it was Day Last, I broke down and grabbed the tripod and got as close as I could get to the tiny things, snapping off a few leaves in the way, and bracketing the shots quite a bit. I liked this one the best, both for the sharpness (wind was blowing making it a crapshoot to see which would stay in focus when I shot!) and just enough bokeh to throw the neighbors' homes down the hill oof.

A few more adjustments than usual, some shadow highlights, saturation and contrast, plus a high pass filter, USM and Neat Image as well.

I think my macro eye and technique has improved this month. Thanks to Mr_Pants for setting this up, and thanks to everyone who participated and commented.

Love the blue and purple in the flower. The colors seem to glow and stand out from the green. You have caught the colors nicely. Interesting prespective.

What a difference with your day 1 shot. I wouldn't link them together (but I'm not a floral man). Wonderful sharpness and blue and red colors. Hope you liked using your tripod again.
