These little guys were dive bombing my bird feeder the other day and I happened to catch one while doing some test shots at higher ISO settings on my NEW D300!!!!

I like the background dappled light and the positioning of the bird. I hope you enjoy...

A couple of comments about the 'processing'. This was taken at high ISO and this little guy was taking up very little of the frame. It is about full crop, but even with that I like the grain and the blur created.

makes me think this might be how some animals see things, I don't know why.

Congrats on the new toy! This reminds me of a water painting converted to b&w, I thin it's a nice effect.

Really like the bird's posture -- wings and tail especially.

I'm slowly getting caught up with comments - thanks for yours. Congrats on the new purchase by the way. I think you will like it. I'm still trying to get used to mine - it is quite a step up for me.

I like the blur and grain too and overall think this definitely should be in B&W.

The position (form) of the bird and the shallow dof are great - and there seems a good balance between blurred motion and stop action.

I agree with you on the blur and grain - all too often (in my opinion) those elements are written off immediately as "bad" when there are times where it adds a richness, a context to a photo - this is one of those times. Here it's more in keeping with the form and function of the bird. Oh, and enjoy the new toy!

Delightful grain and delicate lighting make this more than the sum of its parts. Wonderful.

The processing seems a little odd but I really like this. It's very poetic.
