I took the time to read your editing steps. Had a chuckle over the idea of doing it in b/w and then slapping yourself on the head. I would blame it on the coffee.

Nice bold colors that pop in this one. Unfortunately, it's the classic 5 for me. For some reason I can't quite nail down, it is not having a huge amount of appeal to me, but it's not a bad shot either. There are some modest jaggies visible around the edge of the car. A different resizing method may have helped there. Perhaps it is that the umbrella and car hood are both partially cut off at the edge of the frame. I do like the story that is told by this shot.

Decent shot, but the middle of the day lighting doesn't help (not that he'd be under an umbrella at dusk, but, ah well)

I like how the raised trunk gets more red in the frame. Clever setup. A bit oversharpened for my taste.
