Camera: Minolta DiMAGE A1
Location: My home in Toronto, ON
Date: Mar 1, 2004
Aperture: f/4.5
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/10
Galleries: Macro, Floral

Taken in my home using a piece of black velvet as background and a northwest facing window as the light source. I handheld the camera. I edited the photo in PSE2. I used the clone stamp tool to remove dust specks from the black, and I also used the levels, b/c, saturation and usm tools in editing the image.

I really liked this image and gave it an 8. I can't think of anything technical to improve it, it might have looked interesting with a water drop on the very tip of each petal, but I am not sure how it would have reflected with the black background.

Thanks for putting comments on other images.

This is very strong and very dramatic. The flower looks positively predatory.
and the black background enhances the effect.

This is a great capture. Is this a studio shot o rwas it taken outdoors and then edited?

Good shot of a bird of paradise. Nicely composed, good color, sharp. What more can one ask! Good luck.

one of my favorite flowers -- good choice on the black as the purple/orange really pop. I'd like to see a bit more of the stem as it seems too tightly cut off at the bottom - the center of the flower (the purple/tanish part) is not quite right - could be it's fuzzy "past its peak" look??
