The very light sky doesn't bother me at all. If this was a landscape photo, maybe then it would be a distraction. I like the crisp detail you've captured in the lighthouse. If you had exposed to get better detail in the sky, you would have lost it in the darker features of the lighthouse. Personally, I like it the way it is.

Cool lighthouse and good compostion but I do find the blown out sky as distracting. i would love to see this with a clear sky with some clouds.

I really like the composition of this photo, Ken. It's very dynamic. The grays seem a little flat to me, as if in need of a tad of lightening. But it could be my eyes.

One of these days you should go inside and take photos OUT of the lighthouse.

The starkness of the sky serves to highlight the detail of the tower, it seems.

Well, the different composition and angle -- and lighting makes it look completely different. I love this version. Even the white sky enhances the stark crisp feel of that awesome building.

This provides the opportunity for a look at some close detail. For me, the white background (featureless sky) is distracting.
