Challenge: Environmental Portrait II (Basic Editing)
Camera: Canon EOS-350D Rebel XT
Lens: Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6
Location: Parking lot
Date: Mar 17, 2008
Aperture: f/8
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/200
Galleries: Portraiture, Transportation
Date Uploaded: Mar 18, 2008

This was my first attempt at a strobist type setup. I got a couple of Sunpak 383's, one of which was on a monopod camera left and another on a tripod at camera right. The camera was handheld and set on manual at f/8 and 1/200s, iso 100.

I'll include more pics from the shoot taken with the same setup. The purpose was to get some photos to send to universal studios to determine if this bike is going to be used in the next fast and furious movie. My brother-in-law builds vehicles and built a chopper that was in Tokyo Drift, and has a truck they are using in filming right now for the next one. Too much info for the description of this photo. Good day :)

This doesn't tell me much about what he is. Not even the title hints at his attachment to the bike. Is he the owner or does he paint them or test-drive them...but i'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say he's the proud builder of this great looking bike. 8

I think it's a nice picture - but the person doesnt really match the environment. When I think biker, I think leather, not weekend casual.

Stong lighting, good colors, but couldn't you have found somewhere to shoot without that pole to the right and the wires running across the backround? This would have been a much better shot on an empty road or a flat plain than here. this bike rider's environment is the distant horizon, not the garage.

I love the lighting of this picture, it realy makes the great bike stand out.

And then there's this guy, casual dressing, nothing to do with a bike like this, and looking uninterested. There's a strange shadow @his neck, making it look liked his head was photoshopped into the picture without too much care.

I would have liked the picture better without the guy in it, implying that it has not too much value as a portrait.

Beautiful bike! But it might have made a more powerful photo shown on a dark asphalt road and without power lines.

I like the paint scheme on the bike. Stop down the lens though, you should have a lot more detail on the bike. Try accentuating the bike a little contrast goes a long way

Fantastic bike! I would love to have seen this in an environment where it was obvious that the rider was on a ride, as opposed to a residential street.

Fantastic bike! This would be more interesting against a more photogenic background.

The bike looks well exposed, but maybe it couldve been lit even more so the background wouldve been darker. Some leathers on the guy would also kick it up a notch I think.

A different setting might have helped. The power lines and background are distracting.
