 I didn't have a chance to take a macro today so I am cheating by using a shot I took on my first trip to Kaua`i in September 2005.

This is a plumeria blossom partially open. You will also notice a spiral bud and two other partial to full blooming plumeria.

The flowers are yellow with a deep red band on front and back. Wide petals with rounded tips, moderately overlap. Nebel's Rainbow, also known as Lei Rainbow, has a mild sweet scent and the flowers have excellent keeping quality.

Beautiful pre bloom flower. They're also very pretty when they're just buds.
