Not an original image idea, but one close to my heart.

Very, very sadly, this title is accurate. Although he is available for adoption very few people either are willing to adopt a Pitbull or meet the stringent adoption requirements (no other pets, no kids under 15, etc.). Maybe he will be one of the lucky ones who makes it to a no-kill rescue with lots of space, time and love. In the meantime, shelter volunteers will walk him, cuddle him, play ball with him, and let him know someone cares. It's all we can do.

PP - converted from RAW, cropped, duotone, gradient fill with dark gray on top, burnt/dodged pup, burnt kennel fence, added border (wanted a thick, dark one to represent the metaphorical and literal boxes he's in), resized, sharpened with noise reduction.

My husband wont let me go to the Shelters around here. Five dogs and three cats later, I can understand why

Very sad. At least where you live they have the right to life still. My province has outlawed them completely. (they should be making anyone with a criminal record that involves violence take a course before they can own a dog instead..but that will never happen) Shelters here have been pretty good at getting the pitty's moved to another province though so they still have a chance.

I think this is a type of harsh environment that not many will ever understand. Those eyes are heartbreakers. I love it when you do your animal adoption related photos! Thanks for sharing.

Mary - really nice poignant picture. The eyes say it all . .

Well done. This is a *real* harsh environment. I get angry about the "stringent adoption requirements," when there is so much need to place these animals.

A very sad truth. I wish the eyes and fur were a bit sharper.

Good job focusing through the fence (manual focus?). Monochrome conversion is good here.

Haunting eyes in this composition. I like the almost mono-color effect you achieved in the image. Very nice. Congrats. Coming back after voting on the rest. I think I like this one the best. Bumping it up a point.

Nice shot compositionally, conceptually and tonally but looses any impact with the loss of detail it seems to suffer from :'( Eyes are the key in this kind of shot as they tell the sadness, without them glaring back at you clear as day the shot suffers...

Awwww.....this one breaks my heart! I hope that your title doesn't really hold true! Lovely shot that captured my attention and has a message to me so, it scores higher than all of those lovely scenery shots! 9 from me
