Invictus
William Ernest Henley

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Okay, this one I didn't see coming, although I do have and treasure an original sketch and watercolour titled Invictus. Good posture, imaginative overlay with lighting very nice match to poem.

What a wonderful image to pair with this poem. I love how the sweeping, swirling overlay adds so much depth to the mood.

That texture is perfect! It looks like hair and a scarf being blown back by the wind, and the sweeping scratches behind her look like rain... She's sailed boldly through the storm, and now the sun is coming though... ;D

Again, nicely managed.

After reading the last line, I thought of that 70's hit song "I'm Your Captain."

I love the swirling movement. This is really cool!!!
