 Ok, so I cheated today. I took this a few weeks ago while I was out hiking. No time to shoot and process today.

We've had some nasty ice storms this winter, and this was from one of them. An icicle hanging off of a leaf. I liked the air bubbles trapped inside.

Used the 50mm and a reversing ring.

Beautiful detail within the icicle! Love the blurred background as well, although not sure about the warm tone. I wonder if it would make the picture look "colder" if you had a blue background instead.

The bubbles and patterns inside the icicle are incredible. The background warms the ice without being overpowering. Great subject for a macro.

I was so inspired by this macro that I went out to see if I could use my bag of ice to get something interesting. I'll have to look at the photos when my hand thaws out.

Beautiful macro that shows off its ability to reveal hidden worlds; the background is also very nice, particularly your ability to find and use it to frame your subject while out on a hike.

Well now. A solid 8, potentially a ten dependent on the challenge. Too bad you shot this out of the time frame - DQ 4 U.

Beautiful shot. Love the crystallization detail and the background and the border. Everything is right about this image.

very cool air bubbles in the ice indeed. I like how they look like a splash going upwards. The DOF is perfect.
