This was taken in extremely harsh sunlight. I had to hurry because these raspberries were on a trifle that was about to be devoured by a bunch of hungry women.

This is a major crop of a much larger photo.

Wow! Now this is good enough to get me salivating. Despite the 'harsh lighting,' this really conveys the subliminal that any food picture should (assuming you want to actually sell the food) and that is... "C'mon, take a bite!" Love the crop and inclusion of the greens. Was this in a RAW format? Perhaps you could tone the white down slightly on the exposure adjustment? I like it just the way it is. From me an 8-9 in a food/fruit/ad challenge, probably get killed by most for what you already know (light).

I like the lighting. It gives those shiny spots on the berry that help to make it look appealing.

I agree with some of your other commenters on the softness and lighting but do like your composition and these certainly make a great subject. I have just planted some in my garden this past weekend so maybe I'll get to snap them in the summer :o)

I agree the lighting was a bit harsh. The focus is a bit soft too. I like the contrast of the red berry, green leaves and the white background. I really like the angle you shot this - sharing with us the inside of the raspberry.

Up close and personal with a raspberry. The color is spectacular and the berry looks delicious. I hope you got to eat some before they were all gone. I got so hungry for the raspberry I almost bit my monitor.

Lighting aside, I love the detail of the interior with the seeds so nice and sharp. I wish the focal plane were slightly closer to take care of the softness around the entrance, but I wouldn't want to lose e sharpness of the seeds, and it sounds like you didn't have time to nitpick either. This does make my mouth water.

The lighting is indeed a little harsh, but it looks so yummy that I think I'll have to buy some raspberries when I go to the store next time! Great colors!

The white works ok for me because it gives the bottom of the berry a nice even light. It's interesting that I found and photographed one bloom on a wild logan berry bush today, it's a close relative of this little morsel. Yummy!

Okay...I want a bite....NOW. Glad you admitted the harsh light. While the lower right suffers from the bright white, the upper portion of the berry appears that much deeper. Overall, I really like this photo exactly as it is.
