This portico is within the Former Royal Naval College in Greenwich London. Originally built as a hospital in 1694 for the relief and support of seamen and their dependants it became the Royal Naval College in 1873. In 1998 the Royal Navy left Greenwich and the complex was handed over to the Greenwich Foundation. It is currently used by the University of Greenwich and the Trinity College of Music.

Very nice. The light is just about perfect. Great photo Kavey!

I'd go with an 8 on this one. Nice tone and subjects, but at the same time it's a little dry. I can't really tell you why I'm not connecting with this image, but there's no emotion to it for me. Technically sound, but I don't like the crop the focus is too much on the empty space and not enough on the 'parallel' pillars.

Well I don't know. Everyone else really loves your two images. I suppose there is something there they could be nice. I just feel strange looking at them as though there is something severly missing from them both. The angle seems off. I am not trying to be rude just a weird feeling while trying to look at your images. There is not shapes colors light that really stands strikingly out at you as you view it. Forget cropping it doesn't help it out very much. These images make me feel as though I am caught in an unrealistic nightmare where I am screaming yet no sound can be heard even though the place is perfect for echos. Well thank you for photographing and I wish I could nail it it but I think it the feeling the angle maybe the time of day something is really missing it kind of like a photograph of a ghost town and yet not showing being a ghost town if that makes sense to you.

Excellent shot, Kv.. I think I would have chosen a lighter border, possibly white, to improve contrast in the shot. As it is, it would definitely have got a high score from me, probably an 8, maybe 9 with a different border.

I do like this one alot. The other one is okay, but I much prefer the composition of this one. It does give the feel of being there. I like how the far end of the walkway is still visible and not a dark shadow, and I like the hanging light. The shadows really make this shot. Like the tones, but too bad about the water drop! I would also change the border to a darker shade.

This is one of the best photos I've ever seen ! Just WOW. This photo needs to be in a gallery and I mean that honestly. You should post this up as a print !

This one is my favorite Kavey.
I like the shadows/light of course, but the contrasting/tones makes this much more appealing. The dof/pov helps to make an interesting study.
I do the same (eyedropper)..I think you've done this one just right.

Thanks folks...

Thamer, the border colour for each photo in this series is actually different - I used the eyedropper to lift a colour from the image. Perhaps I should have sampled a different area/ tone within this one.

I like this one better on a second look but I would have preferred to see it close/move in on the structure and rich elements at the end. Would this be helped with a little cropping?

Aside from that rain drop :) I really love the perspective here, its very deep and leads the eye to the exit. The light's exposure is well balanced and combined with the shadows, they make a wonderful pattern. The tone is very beautiful and fits very well with the atmosphere of the place.

Being picky: The border's color doesn't match that much with the photo, it looked much better in the previous photo. A black border would look good too. But sometimes the photo is so powerful that it doesn't need a border.

A beautiful photo overall, I would give it a 10!

Good luck :)

9b.jpg "9" maybe upgrade to "10" right on the border. Also excellent tone. Cropping would make a different here. Maybe a bit on the bottom also.
