Tried to bring out subtle black-on-black versus the heavy contrast between black and white. I am aware that some may not be able to notice the end of the brush because it's so dark, but I needed the deep black in this pic. Used a strobe with umbrella for general soft lighting and highlight on the paint. A snoot accents the head of the brush to clearly define the focal point between all those lines. It is slightly oversharpened, since I felt it goes well with the heavy contrast.

I think i would have liked a shallower dof to keep more of the shot in focus.
