Variety of apertures/shutter speeds/ISO's with some bracketed shots.. just playing around most of the way through.
We need an eclipse in the middle of July next time so that I don't have to freeze, and my camera doesn't have to freeze up by the end.
Oh, and as far as my attempt and standing outside freezing as KaDi pointed out... I had planned out a spot to use to do the entire eclipse, but ends up I've been sick for 2 days and there was NO way I was driving anywhere to stand in the cold. I didn't want to miss this and unfortunately, I don't have any windows on the side of my house where this was occurring. I had the gorillapod attached to a window for the first part, but had to keep rotating it out further to keep the moon in the frame. Once I could finally see the moon from another window that sits overtop the downstairs neighbor's porch roof, I moved the whole thing to sit out on the roof. Once I finally climbed out on the roof and got everything set, I just had to click the remote though the closed window from there on out... with the occasional peek to make sure I wasn't losing the moon in the frame and to check on the exposures. Then, someone posted on here to use bracketing (duh!), and that saved me a few frozen fingers.
After all that, I'm really impressed that this last minute, unplanned attempt turned out as well as it did. And I didn't even look at the last half of the shots yet!
Thanks for all the nice comments and favorites! :) It makes the frozen fingers worth it!
Now that's dedication! And this came out VERY well. Excellent work to get the shots (and very creative work, I might add!) and beautifully put together and presented. You should be very proud of this!
ARE YOU NUTZ? Standing outside in the freezing cold in the middle of February what were you trying to do...catch your death?
It really is a beautiful series of shots. I think this ranks far beyond "attempt." If you were playing horseshoes you'd have a ringer not a leaner. Sweetly done. Kudos for your planning and execution!
