A door in my house, painted a rather funky shade of green called Goblin. Switched off all lights in house but one offset to the side, lay down on the floor and shot handheld. Wanted to take advantage of the slightly vertiginous (?) effect of turning it 180.

Oooh, nice angle, Susan! The title's perfect. I really like the disorienting effect.

Greetings from the Critique Club

First Impression

Tension. Apprehension. Who left the door open? Who's in the house now?

What does this have to do with leading lines?

So many questions???

Looking Deeper

This image triggered several responses when I first opened it, as mentioned above. From the context of leading lines I wonder how many questioned where the lines lead? Just a thought.

Looking at this a little longer I can see where the lines are pointing to the opening at the bottom. ??? Wait. That's not a threshold. ??? Ok. Just read the your notes in the Photographer's Comment section (I usually wait to read those and comments until after I've gathered some thoughts). That's the top of the door. Clever. :-) Still feels like someone's in the house...

Getting past the trickery and looking at the photo itself. I like the angles formed by the door and how the bottom right third is separated from the rest. Personally, I find my attention going to the door handle first before I move anywhere else.

In reading the comments I see some questioning the color (i.e. WB off, lose the yellow, etc...). I'm not quite so bothered by the color, but it does make me wonder (strongly) how this would feel in B&W. Although B&W may add to the sense of doom and mystery.

The other technicals (lighting, focus, DOF) all work fine from where I'm sitting.

Certainly an interesting take on the challenge. Could be good for a revisit if the POV challenge comes back around, eh? :-)

Oops! One other thing I just noticed as I scrolled up to take a last look at the photo dimensions and file size...did you consider cropping about 1/5 of the image from the top? I think it would have remained balanced, but when you resize then the image would look larger. Something to think about.

Questions? Feel free to send me a PM. Thanks!

I like this a lot - just the way it is, too. The yellow complements, doesn't distract for me.

This is a refreshingly creative take on the challenge theme - I do think the yellow wall area detracts a bit from the full vertigo effect, if only because it is a contrasting color, perhaps - maybe there would have been a way to capture the door with the same angles to the lines, without including the side wall?

Cool perspective - I am getting vertigo lol. Nice strong lines. Love the contrast of the green vs. the yellow.

The cut of edge at the left does not work for me, but otherwise this is a good shot and effective at conveying the title.

Interesting angle. Find the bright patch of yellow a little distracting
