We went to Vic Falls and found that December is a low time in the falls. M and I walked around the little park on the Zambian side, saying, so where are these falls anyway??? We were looking at this blank face of rock, with a little trickle of water coming down every now and then on its surface. Suddenly we realised - this is the falls. Slightly anticlimactic. So much for ‘the Smoke that Roars’. Maybe next time.

The people here are very friendly. The houses are similar to the rondavels in Botswana, but are square, with a shaggy grass thatch. Would they be squaredavels?

The colors and texture, very much the effect of an old postcard, 1930's perhaps? Great.
