I live in Butte County - so named for these vestigial relics of the Sierra Nevada foothills. Millions of years of erosion have left our landscape dotted with small buttes like this one. This fellow is lucky enough to own one of his own. Shot at sunset with a busy highway behind me.

pp: way too many steps to list, but the b&w conversion was with Channel Mixer

Great composition and another that works really well in B&W.

I think the B&W really makes this stand out.

Very dramatic as a b&w, even though I don't know what the color version looks like. The texture in the foreground is perfect. I like how the road leads us to the house or barn.

You've captured a great sense of scale here Roger. I feel as if I can step right into that picture and follow the road all the way up to the top. I like the processing, but wonder if a bit more contrast on upper half would really make it pop.

I like the inclusion of the fence, it shows ownership quite clearly. I really like the B&W and the processing.

This is awesome, Roger!! The way you captured the light in the B&W is just brilliant. Wonderfully seen and good composition.

NICE!!!!!! Love the perspective. Would it be too much to play with contrast a bit??

Sweet composition and b&w. I'd like to see it a little brighter. Nice texture with the stones in the foreground.

what a great PP conversion. I'd love to see the original...so funny all the work we do on these little pics for the puter here, I need to write things down when I really like it, or reverse the steps to before resize

the B&W gives this an older feel the lighting in this seems like it could be moonlight

Nice shot Roger. Without seeing the original, I would assume that the sky was fairly clear and blue??? And yet it gives me quite an ominous look with your processing. It's almost like there is something dangerous or scary hiding behind the butte.
