The town of Mashiko is one of the big pottery towns in the Kanto region; it's only a short drive from where I work. I went there to observe a fifth grade lesson at the elementary school. Afterwards, I went to some of the pottery shops. The tanuki (or raccoon dog) statue is a symbol often seen around Japan. Of course, there are hundreds in Mashiko.
Cropped the sky a bit.

That is one bizzar statue, but makes for a really fun SP for the day. I am not quite sure what you are 'showing off' in this image, but You would make a great replacement for Vanna White L()L. Is there a P, yes there are Two P's.

LOL! At first glance, I thought the racoon dog was flipping the bird. :) Nice job on the shot, David - you seem to blend right in with the other pottery. :P

ETA: Hmmm... a second look reveals that the position of your hands seems to indicate that you are presenting or pointing out a specific anatomical feature of the tanuki. 8-o
