On Sunday mornings I like to go to one of the bakeries in the Wiesbaden Hauptbahnhof and get my schokocreme croissant. I then hang out, watch trains, eat my croissant, watch people, and wait for the Starbucks next door to open so I can get my mocha. So I go into the bakery, get my croissant, and am trying to figure out how to shoot "bread". The gentleman in this picture notices my camera and wants me to shoot one of his coworkers. So I do. Then I shoot him, then his other coworker. I've printed them and will take them back with me next Sunday to give to them.

Light was atrocious - VERY yellow and bright over the bread with very little to light the faces. I'm actually quite pleased with what I got out of it in basic editing, though I did a bit more for the ones I printed.

Score will be in the basic crumb range - after all, it's just a snapshot, but I like his smile and I quite enjoyed the process of getting this snapshot.

And yes, the lighting sucked:

Apologies to the voters. And to add insult, they no longer have the kind of croissants I like.

I'm only seeing "supermarket guy" here, and the bread seems like an afterthought, though it fits the theme well enough. The colors seem a t-i-n-y bit over saturated, as the hues in his face are a bit overdone. I wouldn't call this a candid, since he's way to happy to pose here. I'd give this a 5.

Deb I come everyday to see what is new from you. I'm learning at your feet. I might not do much but when I do, I go see what you have done and learn. So as someone said to me never give up as there is always someone who see's something there.

Apologies to the voters????? Well, none certainly are needed. Matter of fact, I think they owe YOU an apology!

I like this - it's a very nice candid. What a yummy job he has! I like seeing all that bread in the background too.

I think maybe 11, but unfortunately . . . Has he sold that car yet? Lovely shot, Deb - to hell with the scores (except the good ones, which you may recognise)

This is a fun take on the challenge. The comp is good. Only thing holding this down for me a little is the lighting; it's not quite balanced. The bg area of bread is nearly overexposed, and the guy could use a touch of fill flash IMO. Still, a nice effort. Good luck in the challenge.

good portrait, but white balance is slightly off, his face is too reddish while the bread has a greenish cast and his clothes blueish. problematic lighting there I assume.

I wasn't expecting to see a portrait in the challenge. Extra point for being different!

This is a good photo of the guy but the because of the shallow DOF the bread is secondary. As a result the guy is the subject not the bread

OMG do I miss this selection of bread. I can smell it. Sorry I have to stop, getting hungry... :)
