Judi's right about the eyes too - piercing!
Good choice on an image to use too. The textures and tone lend them selves well to adding to the overall attitude.

A frank, appraising look - almost confrontational. Very powerful portrait, all the more so that you allowed the colors to take a backseat. Processing seems absolutely right for the image.
