This was my January FS alternate. I liked how the light was reflecting off the snow to highlight the deer's face. This one was taken at Crane Creek State Park.

This is an outstanding shot, the snow acting like a huge reflector. This glow is out of this world eerie.

I'd be interested to know what made you choose your Jan FS shot over this one Michelle? I much prefer this shot as it is so much more than a simple deer shot, it has a quality I can't quite explain. Not known for being a high voter but I'd have given this 7 against the 5 I gave for your submission.

am I the only one who thinks this deer looks a tad evil? it's face looks more like a wolf than a deer 0.o
Anyhoo I always love a good wildlife shot, good job.

An intimate moment in the forest and the deer sees the viewer. Perfectly static moment. The wild faces the tame. Your remind me that it is special unrepeatable moments like this which make for great photos.

Very cool lighting, almost looks like a space ship beam getting ready to beam her up.

Excellent image - the unique lighting gives this a bit of an other worldly quality. Very cool.

Love the way you used the lighting to really make the deer pop out. Neat the way the shape of the brush in the background seems to parallel the deer's body. Very cool.

This is one of the better deer shots I have seen. You can really see the texture of his/her coat. The vignetting works well against the very light area of the photo. What's great is that the deer isn't even aware that you were there. It's pretty hard to sneak up on a deer!

Michelle! Ohmy! This is so striking and beautiful! I love the natural vignaetting created by the light. The high key lighting makes it look s dramatic. Wow! I am truly in love with this photo!

Awesome capture. Not to often you see them with their head like this. Looks like half dog half deer. The deer here have HUGE ears. I really like the effect you chose. The bright spot behind the deer works in his favor by making him pop out at you.

It's like the ground is lit from below.

This is so beautiful. The deer seems so unaware that you are there. Well done.

Love this one. Even looks great as a thumbnail. The beauty of this shot is the highlighting of the outline of the deer. The grass/snow is a little burnt, but that is probably just adding to the effect of the shot.

This is great. I always get a relaxed feeling when I watch animals eat.

Re:Photoshop. Don't bother with that crap. A good image should stand on it's own merits, as this one does. If everything we see begins to get enhanced or fabricated, what can we really believe in or count on. Draw the line keep it real. The world is already full of enough bullshit.

That is very pretty! I'm not a master with Photoshop so it would never occur to me to do something like this. Love it!

This is not your typical deershot, and I like how that light is reflected on its face. The dark vignette complements the darker area of the deer perfectly.

Wow - this is a stunner - love it!! The light reflection off of the snow is beautiful. Great wildlife catch, too.
