Wildlife can be terribly uncooperative! I think they enjoy teasing photographers.
I have a place that clears my head, too, and sometimes it just isn't showing itself well in the big picture. I think that's kind of what you ran into here with the bright sky and snow. When that happens I start looking for something smaller, like a particular tree or clump of grass or puddle or something that looks interesting. One of the things I enjoy about returning to the same place over and over is finding new aspects of it to show. I look forward to seeing some more views of this place from you. |

I really like the colors of the trees, but the snow seems way blown out, and not much interest there. Maybe crop most of the foreground out and focus on the tree line?

i'm a bit overwhelmed by white and i would like to see the horizon line either higher or lower. i agree with Erik about the trees becoming more of a focus for the shot and getting closer would probably some more detail and there's some really nice colours in there. i like the brush that breaks up the whiteness of the snow, too.
and i would like to see a moose next time you pass by there, please :) |

What I like:
--parallel lines formed by the grass in the foreground and the trees in the background
--your description of what this place is like other times of the year
Things I am less fond of:
--both sky and snow are mightly bright. looks like the sky has some blue sky and clouds, so making that darker should bring out some nice shapes. polarizing filter may have helped for the sky(depending where the sun was).
--lack of a point to which my eyes are drawn. the whitish tree to the right of center has some interesting branching; perhaps walking up closer to it would have made this a good point of interest for the photo. |
